Lumpfish Caviar

(Cyclopterus  lumpus)

 

Lumpfish caviar is made from the roe of the lumpfish. Lumpfish  found in the North Atlantic Ocean.

 

The largest recorded female lumpfish was found in Icelandic waters, weighing in at 9.6 kg and bearing 4 kg of roe. 

 

Capelin Caviar

(Mallotus villosus)

 

Capelin caviar is made from the roe of the capelin fish, a small fish and member of the smelt family found in Arctic waters around Norway Newfoundland and Iceland.

The  main market for capelin caviar is Western Europe.
